Hair trend: Curls! But how do you take care of them?
How do you take care of your curls?
One of the biggest hair trends this season is embracing the natural curly hair. So, it’s time to enjoy wavy, curly or kinky hair to the fullest. Whether they are bouncy on their own or need a little bit of help and shaping. But how exactly do you take care of your curls so that they can stay healthy, shiny and firm all day long? We have collected the best tips & tricks for you.
Tip 1: Choose your shampoo carefully
Proper haircare is very important if you want healthy curly hair. Just like for your skin, hydration for your curls is indispensable. Curls will always remain frizzy when they are dry. Depending on how fine, coarse, wavy or coily your curls are, you can determine which products your hair needs. For example, always choose a sulphate-free shampoo. A shampoo that does contain sulphate (found on the package as SLS or SLES) strips your hair of its natural oils and damages the hair cuticle. This leads to dry hair and frizzy curls. With the Hydrating Cream Hairbath from Innersense Organic Beauty you certainly don't have to be afraid of that. It contains no sulfates, no silicones and is approved for use with the Curly Girl Method.
Tip 2: Take your time while using conditioner
Curly hair is more porous than straight hair and has a harder time retaining moisture. Curls also have difficulty absorbing the natural oils that the scalp produces into the hair follicles. It is more difficult for the natural hair oil to pass through to the ends of wavy and curly hair. This explains why the ends of curly hair are often dry. A rich, deep conditioner is therefore important to keep the curls soft and hydrated. Leave the conditioner always for a few minutes before rinsing it out. The Hydration Cream Conditioner from Innersense Organic Beauty makes stiff curls soft again, while the Conditioner for Dry Hair with Lavender & Avocado from John Masters Organics intensively nourishes dry curls.
Tip 3: Invest in a hair mask
Having a hard time maintaining your curly hair? Are your curls frizzy and unmanageable? Then it's time for a restorative mask. A hair mask offers the same benefits as your conditioner, but in a much more intensive way. You also leave a mask on longer than a conditioner, for example 20 minutes. If you have stiff or thick curls, you can even let a mask work all night. You can do this at least once a week, for example with the Hydrating Hair Mask from Innersense Organic Beauty or the Hair Mask for Normal Hair with Rose & Apricot from John Masters Organics.
Tip 4: Brush your hair from the bottom up
Curly hair is also more prone to knots and tangles. While it's tempting to go through the tangles quickly with a brush, doing so can cause hair breakage. By detangling your hair from the bottom up, you can gently loosen you. When you apply a special detangling cream after washing and comb your hair with a wide-toothed comb, you can prevent knots and tangles. You can do that, for example, with the Leave-In Conditioning Mist with Green Tea & Calendula from John Masters Organics and the Sweet Spirit Leave In Conditioner from Innersense Organic Beauty.
Tip 5: Make your own hair cocktail
Product "cocktailing" is simply mixing two or more products to style your curls in a desired way. We have two examples for you. Combine a smoothing serum like the I Create Shine from Innersense Organic Beauty with a hair mousse like the Volumizing Foam with Quinoa & Acacia Gum from John Masters Organics for smooth curls with volume. Another combination that gives your curls hold without making them dry or crunchy is the Nourishing Defrizzer for Dry Hair from John Masters Organics with the I Create Hold styling gel from Innersense Organic Beauty.
Tip 6: Use a diffuser for more volume
Do you want to style your curls with as little heat damage as possible? Then use a diffuser that you can attach to your hair dryer. A diffuser ensures a more even heat distribution and can thus prevent frizz. After towel drying your hair, use a product that protects your curls from the hot air, such as the Hair Love Prep Spray from Innersense Organic Beauty. When your curls are about 90% dry, apply the Quiet Calm Curl Control from Innersense Organic Beauty to keep your curls in shape all day.
